With a hamstring injury, Columbus Crew striker Gyasi Zardes will miss the next 2-4 weeks, according to head coach Caleb Porter, ahead of their MLS Cup rematch with the Seattle Sounders on Saturday at Lower.com. field.

On Wednesday, the 29-year-old was hurt in Columbus' 1-0 loss to the New York Red Bulls. In first-half stoppage time, he substituted off after pulling up awkwardly after a shot.

Zardes will face an uphill battle to get selected into the US men's national squad when World Cup qualifying begins on September 2 in El Salvador. They'll also play Canada on September 5 and Honduras on September 8, making for a hectic start to the Concacaf Octagonal.

Zardes was a key player in the USMNT's Gold Cup victory this summer and has developed into a valuable asset under head coach Gregg Berhalter. While he hasn't started every game, he has made an impact on the international scene, scoring 14 goals in 62 appearances.
