Pat Onstad was named the new general manager of Houston Dynamo FC on Monday morning, bringing him back to the club where he won back-to-back MLS Cup victories in 2006-07.

Onstad comes to Houston after serving as the technical director and vice president of soccer operations for the Columbus Crew. After Houston parted ways with Matt Jordan in late August, the post became vacant.

While in Columbus, the two-time MLS Goalkeeper of the Year (2003, 2005) contributed to the development of the team that won the MLS Cup in 2020 and the Campeones Cup in 2021.

“As we went through the search process, Pat clearly showed himself to be the best person for the job based on his experience in a number of leadership roles, his track record of success at every stop and his understanding of our league, our club and our community. His preparation and attention to detail during the interview process illustrated the qualities that I believe will make him successful as our general manager. I look forward to working with him to build the Dynamo into championship contenders once again.” Dynamo majority owner Ted Segal said in a statement.
