MLS - Seattle Sounders, Nico Lodeiro undergoes knee surgery

Nicolas Lodeiro, a midfielder for the Seattle Sounders, has had a right knee arthroscopy and will be out for an indefinite period of time, the team said Monday evening. During training last week, the 32-year-old exacerbated an injury he sustained early this season.
After starting and playing all 90 minutes in the club's 1-0 win against Minnesota United FC at Lumen Field the week before, the Uruguayan international was left off of Seattle's matchday roster in a 1-0 loss at Real Salt Lake on Saturday.
While rehabilitating an injury to the same knee that held him out for much of the 2021 season, Lodeiro was steadily working his way back into contention. In just 363 minutes, the two-time MLS Cup winner has one assist in seven games (three starts) this season.
The surgery was performed on Lodeiro in Chicago, and the Sounders are hopeful that he will be able to return to the field this season.

The procedure – a right knee arthroscopy – took place after Lodeiro re-aggravated an injury from earlier this season during training last week.
