Not a full-time regular starter anymore for Napoli, though being still an important and high-quality member of the team, 34-year old Belgian international frontline all-rounder Dries Mertens has allegedly been targeted by Major League Soccer side Toronto FC. Playing for Italian giants since 2013/14, Mertens, an all-time record scorer for Partenopei, is supposedly growing into the main market name for Canadian club.
Currently on a deal with Serie A co-leaders until June 2022, Mertens, unlikely to be offered a further deal renewal, was previously tracked by a bunch of European prominent clubs, including Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham, Inter Milan, AC Milan, AS Roma, and Borussia Dortmund.
