Juventus continue to work behind the scenes to deliver at least one midfield reinforcement for Luciano Spalletti. The standout name on Damien Comolli’s shortlist remains Davide Frattesi, who could be set to leave Inter in January after struggling for game time under Cristian Chivu. According to Tuttosport, after early contacts between the clubs failed to produce much encouragement, a breakthrough could now be close. Inter are said not to have shut the door on a deal based on a paid loan, worth around €4m, with a conditional obligation to buy, most likely triggered by Champions League qualification.

Such a formula would limit Juventus’ immediate financial exposure, while allowing the player - Spalletti’s most prolific scorer during his time with Italy – to secure the regular minutes he is craving. Frattesi is not the only midfield option, however. Spalletti is keen on signing a “pure” deep-lying playmaker. Among the profiles under consideration are Parma’s Adrián Bernabé and Xaver Schlager, who could leave RB Leipzig on a free transfer at the end of the season. As a lower-cost alternative, Feyenoord’s Quentin Timber has not been ruled out either.
