When Robert Lewandowski earned the "Golden Shoe" award for best scorer in European football last season, he expressed his gratitude to his wife Anna.

In the 2020-21 season, Lewandowski scored 41 goals in 29 games for Bayern, beating Gerd Muller's record of 40 goals in a Bundesliga season established in 1971-72.

Since Cristiano Ronaldo scored 48 goals for Real Madrid in 2014-15, he has the most goals in Europe.

The Poland striker was effusive in his appreciation for his wife, who is also his personal "motivation coach," during the event hosted at Bayern's Allianz Arena.

"I have to thank my wife, she is a great support for me and a motivation when things are not going so well," he said.

Anna Lewandowska, a nutritionist and former Polish international karateka, is in charge of her husband's diet.

"I am very proud of him," she said. "He is extraordinary as a person, as an athlete, as a partner, as a friend, and as a husband."
