BUNDES - Muller: First home Bundes defeat for two years a wake-up call
Bayern Munich's first home Bundesliga setback in two years, according to Thomas Muller, was a wake-up call after the Bavarian giants had won their previous nine games this season.
"We are of course disappointed. Or angry, annoyed, I don't know which best describes it," said Muller in the wake of Sunday's 2-1 shock home defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.
"This is a game that we definitely didn't have to lose."
Bayern Munich and new head coach Julian Nagelsmann were defeated for the first time this season in any tournament as Filip Kostic struck a low shot past Manuel Neuer from a tight angle seven minutes from time.
"Defeat always hurts," Nagelsmann admitted. "On one hand, because it was the first, and on the other, because it was totally avoidable."
Bayern's first league loss at home since November 2019, and Frankfurt's first win in Munich in 20 years.
