Meant to leave Red Bull Salzburg on a free move after current season, unless signing a deal extension for Austrian giants, Cameroonian international centre-back Jerome Onguené (turning 24 on December 22), according to fussballtransfers.com, is growing into a major target for Wolfsburg management. Former Genoa and Stuttgart player, a Sochaux alumni, joined Salzburg first almost four years and a half ago.

Equipped with a dual French citizenship, Onguené was a French youth international all the way from U16 level to U20, before switching to his original home country, which he has so far capped seven times for. Besides, he capped 99 times in official club games overall, scoring seven goals therein.
