OFFICIAL: Khedira retires from football at 34
Sami Khedira retires from football. The 34-year-old decided to stop his professional career at the end of this season, Hertha Berlino announce. Former Juventus and Real Madrid had to say enough after the many injuries that held him back in the last season.
"Exactly 14 years ago I was celebrating winning the championship with Stuttgart. It was a wonderful day. Today is very difficult for me personally, because my football career will end on Saturday around 5.15pm. It's a pretty difficult step and it's hard for me to talk about it, but it's the right decision. 15 years in professional football have left their mark and I have to honestly judge what I can and cannot do. In the end, the gratitude for all that I have been able to feel is stronger than everything”, Khedira said.
On this season Khedira collected only 8 presences, never from the beginning.
