Dusan Vlahovic's goal-scoring record in Serie A was not enough for Fiorentina on Saturday, as Empoli came back from a goal down late to win a 2-1 Tuscan derby.

After 56 minutes, Serbia striker Vlahovic slid in his 11th league goal of the season to move ahead of Italy forward Ciro Immobile in the standings, but the Viola threw away the victory in the last minutes.

With three minutes remaining, Filippo Bandinelli scored the equalizer after Nedim Bajrami's cross, and Andrea Pinamonti completed the reversal off another Bajrami cross in the final seconds.

Vlahovic, who was booed by Fiorentina supporters earlier in the season for refusing to extend his contract until June 2023, held his head in his hands in stoppage time after he failed to tap in from close range.

Vlahovic's goal on Saturday was his 28th in the Italian top division in 2021, but Fiorentina are in ninth place, tied with Juventus on 21 points.
