According to Nicolò Schira, Udinese decided to stick with Luca Gotti for its managing job. Gotti, 53, joined Udinese as assistant manager in 2019 under Igor Tudor, replacing him mid-season after he was fired and avoiding relegation with a great second half of the season. In his first full season as manager in the Italian top league, this past season, he finished 13th in the table, never really risking relegation. His contract was set to expire at the end of the month but will be extended.

Gotti, who was Maurizio Sarri's assistant at Chelsea during the 2018/19 season, had some offers from other Serie A sides and Udinese wasn't sure about retaining him, but team owner Giampaolo Pozzo ultimately decided to offer him a new, 2-year deal.
