TOP STORIES - Maradona Cup match to be played in Saudi Arabia
On December 14, Barcelona and Boca Juniors, two of Diego Maradona's previous clubs, will play a friendly in Saudi Arabia in honor of the late Argentine great.
Just over a year after his passing, the Maradona Cup will be hosted at Mrsool Park in Riyadh. Last November, at the age of 60, the 1986 World Cup winner passed away.
In a statement released Monday, Boca claimed the match will help "honor the legacy" of one of football's all-time greats.
Maradona spent two seasons with Buenos Aires powerhouse Boca Juniors, first in 1981-82 and then again in 1995 for the final two years of his career.
Between 1982 and 1984, he made 58 appearances for Barcelona, winning the Copa del Rey in his debut season.
