Once the list of the 30 nominees to win the Ballon d'Or is official, it's time to predict who will be the winner of the award. We explain who the top favorites are and why.

It is a difficult year to choose the winner of this award. Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, who have held the hegemony of this trophy since 2008 (except in 2018) are not real candidates to win the Ballon d'Or. Therefore, the fight is more even than ever.

The three favorites to win the Ballon d'Or 2021

-Jorginho: Although the Ballon d'Or is an individual award, the trophies harvested throughout the year are always the trigger for choosing the winner of this award. For this reason, Jorginho, who has won the Champions League and the European Championship, the two most important competitions of the year, is running as one of the top candidates to win the award.

For many, Jorginho should not be the winner of the trophy, since he has not stood out notably in the individual facet either. However, he is the only one on the list who has won both competitions, the European Championship and the Champions League.

-Karim Benzema: Since Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid, the figure of Karim Benzema has emerged like foam. The French striker is in the best moment of his career and the start of the 21/22 season has been spectacular.

Benzema has 10 goals in 10 games this season, and last season he scored 30 goals. They are spectacular scoring figures, but the Frenchman does not treasure any title this year. As we have indicated before, the titles are usually very important when choosing the winner of the trophy, so Karim Benzema starts at a disadvantage.

-Robert Lewandowski: The Polish striker, like Karim Benzema, has started the season like a shot. In 10 games, Lewandowski has scored 13 goals. Last season, the striker scored 48 goals in all competitions. To all these scoring records must be added the achievement of the Bundesliga and the German Super Cup.
