Liverpool were tentatively linked with a transfer for Kingsley Coman over the summer. Bayern Munich’s reported asking price quickly put paid to those reports, but it seems the story will not entirely go away.

It remains the case that Coman’s contract expires in 2023, with no further progress in talks. As long as this is the state of play, the Frenchman is bound to be linked with a move away from Bavaria; Bayern will not want to risk ultimately losing one of their stars on a free transfer.

Liverpool are one of three clubs said to be closely monitoring the 25-year-old’s situation. Tottenham, Liverpool and Juventus all want to acquire Coman “as soon as possible”, according to Fichajes.

Whether this translates into a January bid for the man valued at £58.5m by Transfermarkt remains to be seen. A waiting game seems more likely, given Coman’s value will tumble as the contract situation drags on. However, it’s one to keep an eye on.

Coman has recently undergone heart surgery to address a minor irregularity, but is expected to be able to resume playing as normal within the next fortnight.
