Playing for Borussia Dortmund in the early-mid 2010's, 29-year old German-Austrian midfielder Moritz Leitner, currently fending for Swiss side FC Zurich, talked to Transfermarkt.de about his point of view on the situation at BVB:

"When I dealt a little with the club and, as a 17-year-old, had conversations with the coach, with Kloppo, and I was just carried away. With the fans and tradition, the club was unique to me in Germany, the atmosphere was incredible every time. As a young team, you learned a lot from someone like Klopp. If he walks into a room and starts talking, you get goose bumps. He can motivate you incredibly well and take you on his journey. That is a very great strength of his. There are probably few players who would have preferred to do something other than go to BVB. I would have gone there on foot.

Thomas Tuchel's successes speak for themselves. Professionally, he is at an absolutely world-class level. I learned a lot from him. He's a perfectionist and makes every team better - he's always proven that. In Dortmund we finished second with a number of points that would have made you champions every time (in 2015/16 they collected 78 points).

Leitner: Difficult question. Unfortunately, there were a few points in clubs where, for example, it wasn't easy as a young loan player and I had five different coaches in two years and was portrayed a bit as a boogeyman (at VfB Stuttgart). I must have made mistakes as a young player, I don't want to deny that. Everyone does that. The question is whether or not one draws the right lessons from this".
