Minnesota United FC announced Friday that striker Fanendo Adi has signed a one-year contract with a one-year option.

The 30-year-old Nigerian was a free agent and has considerable MLS experience, most recently playing as a backup option for the Columbus Crew on their way to winning the MLS Cup 2020.

In a press release, head coach Adrian Heath remarked, "Fanendo has been in training with us for a few days and we've enjoyed what we've seen." “Obviously, he has a lot of league experience, has scored goals in the league, and has won an MLS Cup. Sean McCauley and Cameron Knowles, two of my staff members here, have worked with Adi for years and know everything there is to know about him.”

Adi debuted in Major League Soccer in 2014 with the Portland Timbers, where he has 55 goals and 14 assists in 149 games (110 starts). He's also played for FC Cincinnati and Portland, where he helped the Timbers win the 2015 MLS Cup, kicking off a run that includes back-to-back 16-goal seasons.
