LIGA - De Paul speaks to Spanish media for the first time
Rodrigo De Paul's move to Atletico Madrid a couple of weeks back was certainly one of the biggest of the La Liga transfer market so far, and on Wednesday he had the chance to address the media for the first time as an Atletico Madrid player.
"(Atletico) is a great club, but the people here make you feel like you're in a family. This was my dream, one of my dreams. Now I want to write an important page in this club's history. The group was very welcoming and I tried to adapt from the beginning". On the manager, Simeone, De Paul added: "He's incredible, one of the best in the world. His career and the trophies he's won attest to this. I'll surely learn a lot and this gives me great motivation. We live and feel football the same way". He then had a few words for Atletico's fans: "I say to them that I've come here to fight and bring them joy and I hope we can win something important together".
De Paul joined Atletico from Udinese for 35M Euros, and signed a 5-year deal with los colchoneros. He recently won the Copa America with Argentina, a title that was missing since 1993.
