LIGA - Report: Sergi Roberto will not renew contract after agreement stalls
Sergi Roberto will not be signing a new contract with Barcelona, according to Diario UF, after the two sides were unable to reach an agreement.
Roberto, a product of the La Masia junior system, made his professional debut for the Blaugrana in 2010 and has been a regular in the first squad ever since, though he has not yet established himself as a consistent starter. The 29-year-old has made 315 appearances for the Catalan giants, with his versatility allowing him to play in midfield and at right-back.
His time at Camp Nou, however, may be coming to an end. Roberto, the club's fourth captain, is in the final year of his contract with the Catalan club. For a long time, there had been talks of a new arrangement, but little progress had been made.
