LIGA - Ronald de Boer supports Koeman in the Spanish press
It now seems to be a law: FC Barcelona has lost points, and so the position of Ronald Koeman is under discussion in the Spanish press. Even after the 1-1 draw against Granada, it was hit again. Koeman, however, received support from compatriot Ronald de Boer.
In conversation with Mundo Deportivo, the former Barca player expressed his support. "Barcelona is in a difficult phase," he admitted. "That is sad, but one has to think carefully about what needs to be done now. Rest is the most important. New players have been recruited and one has to be patient," he also referred to the trainer.
"Koeman must stay," he continued more concretely. "In my view, he is a very good coach. He has a Barca heart and will certainly be successful in the coming seasons." De Boer parried, among other things, the criticism of Koeman's system, who regularly played with three center defenders. "You can also play attacking with three behind, like Chelsea does. Koeman would also like to play 4-3-3, but that is not possible now," he referred to the injury wave at the club.
"If you lose, there is always criticism from the big clubs," De Boer understood, although he does call it "disrespectful" to Koeman. "Everyone has their opinion and that makes it difficult at the moment. But that's the life of a trainer. Let's hope the president keeps the peace."
