The French top-flight will have a six-week vacation in November and December next season to prepare for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, according to the league.

The 2022/23 Ligue 1 season begins on August 6 and will be interrupted by the World Cup, with the season ending on November 13 and restarting on December 28.

Because of Qatar's extreme summer heat, next year's tournament, which runs from November 21 to December 18, will be the first to not take place in May, June, or July.

On November 14, a week before the World Cup kicks off, players will be released by their clubs for international duty.

The French season will end on June 4, two weeks later than the current campaign's completion date.
