LIGUE 1 - Koulibaly unhappy Mendy was excluded from the Ballon d’Or list
Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly expressed his displeasure at former Rennes goalkeeper Édouard Mendy's omission from the 30-man Ballon d'Or shortlist when speaking to the media while on international duty with Senegal.
After becoming the first African goalie to win the Champions League, Koulibaly expressed his disappointment, saying it was a "great tragedy" that the Chelsea goalkeeper had not been included. So far in 2021, his colleague has 19 clean sheets in all competitions.
“We must continue to work and move forward. We have to do the double [the work] of some people to be well judged.”
The lone goalie on the list is Gianluigi Donnarumma of Paris Saint-Germain, who was instrumental in Italy's Euro 2020 victory this summer.
