The LFP, France's professional league governing body, conducted a Board of Directors meeting today, with the LFP publicly opposing the concept of a World Cup every two years.
The LFP claims in a statement that "FIFA wants to take a judgment that suits just their interests and has irreversibly bad consequences for local leagues and clubs as employers of players."
They go on to say that the World Cup's status should be protected and that FIFA should instead focus on the growth of professional club leagues rather than more international events.
Arsène Wenger, FIFA's Head of Football Development, is the brains behind the idea.
