As reported by L’Équipe yesterday, the LFP, French football’s governing body, continue to speak with the government over pandemic related restrictions. A representative told the sports daily that “we follow the evolution of the health situation on a day to day basis and we constantly adapt, we just hope there won’t be a return to closed door but we are not there yet.” The league are “not worried but vigilant and attentive.”

On a positive note, L’Équipe report that 92% of Ligue 1 players are fully vaccinated against Covid, having received two doses of a vaccine, but in Ligue 2 that ratio drops to 84% of players who are fully vaccinated. 96% of support staff, however, have received two jabs. Concerns over swathes of players travelling for the African Nations’ Cup next month persist however, this edition being an expanded tournament with 28 man squads and 24 teams.
