Many people were left wondering why Paris Saint-Germain’s signing of the summer Lionel Messi was subbed in the 75th minute, when PSG were drawing 1-1 with Lyon. The star forward himself was surprised by Mauricio Pochettino’s decision.
The Argentine later explained why he did that, in his post-match press conference.
He said: "We made the decision to take Messi off because of a possible future injury. We have important matches coming up and we have to protect him.
"These are decisions made for the team and everyone knows we have many great players. Sometimes they might be viewed favourably, sometimes a little less."
