According to RMC Sport, Paris Saint-Germain has begun contract negotiations with Marquinhos, the club's defender and captain.

The Brazilian, who piqued Chelsea's attention this summer, is currently contracted to the club until the end of the 2023-24 campaign. A two-year contract is currently being discussed, which would extend his stay at the club until 2026.

The talks have been underway for a few weeks, with the center-performances back's increasing since the start of the season, most notably with a double against Saint-Étienne over the weekend.

The defender had indicated a year ago that he wished to remain in Paris for as long as possible, and that his bond with the city would continue "forever."

Since joining PSG in 2013, the 27-year-old has slowly established himself as one of the finest in his position and a consistent performer for the club, particularly since the departure of compatriot Thiago Silva.
