LIGUE 1 - Report: Clubs penalised for fan incidents
According to L'Équipe, the Ligue 1 disciplinary panel has handed down its decision on the many episodes of crowd unrest that have occurred around the nation in recent weeks, with Lille, Lens, and Marseille all receiving a suspended one-point punishment.
The punishments specifically target the pitch invasion during the Derby du Nord between Lens and Lille, which the home team won 2-0, as well as the Angers-Marseille match, which witnessed similar events and clashes between the two sets of fans.
Lens has also been forced to play two games behind closed doors, a punishment that they have already served in the last several games. Lille and Marseille, on the other hand, will have their away ends closed to supporters until December 31. Angers was ordered to play two games with one of its stands closed, which they have already completed, as has Lens, as well as a €20,000 fine.
