The LFP has announced that following the crowd trouble that delayed the start of Saint-Étienne fixture against Angers on Friday night, Les Verts will see their next game played behind closed doors.

The measure comes as a temporary sanction, before the disciplinary commission announces its definite decision on November 17. Saint-Étienne will also be deprived of their away support for next Saturday’s match against Metz.

The club could yet play more matches behind closed doors if solutions are not put forward by the club’s management to deal with the high-tension atmosphere at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard

Frustration towards manager Claude Puel and the club’s poor form this season boiled over prior to kick-off on Friday, as flares were thrown onto the pitch. The goal nets were notably damaged, which caused a one hour delay to the match.
