The climate for supporters in France has been tense since the start of the season in August. Between problems during Montpellier-OM, Nice-OM, SCO-OM, Metz-PSG, Lens-LOSC, ASSE-SCO or OM-PSG, there are no longer any incidents involving spectators present in the stadiums.

The meeting between OGC Nice and Olympique de Marseille was squarely stopped by the referee, Benoît Bastien that evening. While this duel will be replayed this Wednesday evening in Troyes, this time with Clément Turpin at the whistle, the national technical direction of the arbitration wished to remind the instructions imposed on its referees, especially if they feel that the danger may come from the stands.

“We can only deplore the climate which prevails over certain meetings. We cannot admit that the players in the field are afraid, that we are afraid of taking a corner because we are afraid of receiving a projectile. The referees received the instructions which have always been the same. You don't let a game go on in insecure conditions.

There are processes in connection with the LFP which mean that the match is initially interrupted, with an announcement on the microphone that in the event of a repeat offense the match can be interrupted again and return to the locker room. And in the event of a new offense or a more serious situation, the match can be stopped permanently. This situation also involves a crisis meeting. The word and the decision of the public authority are paramount. When it comes to disturbing public order, fortunately we cannot put it on the shoulders of our referees, who already have very solid shoulders," argues Pascal Garibian, the boss of the DTA.
