Vladimir Petkovic is Bordeaux's new manager
Bordeaux have a new manager. Shortly after announcing the departure of former coach Jean Louis Gasset, Bordeaux announced on their official Twitter account that they had reached an agreement with Swiss manager Vladimir Petkovic to lead les girondins starting this season.
Petkovic last managed a club while at Lazio in 2014, and took the reins of the Swiss National team since then. With the alpine country, Petkovic enjoyed success, the latest being the surprise upset and knock-off of heavy favorites France on peanlties at Euro 2020. He also led the Swiss to World Cup qualification in 2018 as well as Euro 2016 and 2020. In the process, he bcame the record man for number of caps managing the National team.
France will now be his new home, despite Petkovic breaking French hearts at the last Euros. He signed a three-year deal with Bordeaux, and will hope to lift them after they had nearly gone bankrupt last season.
