PREMIER - Evertons Calvert-Lewin recovery from thigh injury taking longer
Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin might be out for a long time after the club announced on Wednesday that his recuperation from a thigh injury is taking longer than expected.
Due to a quadriceps injury, the England international has not played since August 28, and his recovery has hit a snag, with Everton stating that he would "stay out for a number of weeks."
On September 13, Benitez predicted the forward would be out for two to three weeks due to a quadriceps injury and a broken toe, but his absence has now lasted five league games.
"Calvert-Lewin will continue to receive specialist treatment and an update on the England international's fitness will be provided in due course," said a statement from the Premier League club.
The 24-year-old was Everton's leading scorer last season with 21 goals, and he had scored in each of his first three games this season before suffering an injury.
