PREMIER - Kieran Maguire: Liverpool’s transfer funds could take a hit
Liverpool's transfer finances may suffer as a result of higher expenditures linked with the construction of the Anfield Road End stand, according to Kieran Maguire.
Despite the departure of Gini Wijnaldum, the Reds only added center-back Ibrahima Konate to their roster during the summer transfer window.
“I think the club will also be expected to self-fund this expansion. That’s no mean feat as it’s a massive project,” the finance expert told Football Insider.
“It’s therefore a case of having to rob Peter to pay Paul in terms of the club’s ability to compete in the transfer market.
“Because the Anfield Road end is behind one of the goals, those are not premium seats. The premium seats are around the halfway line.”
With players like Mo Salah and co. entering their 30s, as well as a number of midfield legends reaching retirement age, the recruitment staff will be under more pressure to boost the squad in the next big window.
