PREMIER - Leicester City, Thomas: "We are working a lot on our defence"
Commenting upon Leicester City defeating Newcastle, by a 4-0 outcome, Foxes young backliner Luke Thomas stated:
“It was a tough afternoon, I was feeling the legs towards the end of the game, but three points, four goals and a clean sheet. What more can you ask for? We know how many goals we’ve been conceding recently, especially from set-pieces. I felt like today, with the height that they have in the team, we defended really well and stayed strong as a team. To come away with a clean sheet, we’re all over the moon.
The manager always wants the aggression and the positivity towards defending. He’s said this week that we’ve not had that so far this season, but today, I felt like we went out there as a team and defended really strong. That’s probably why we’ve come away with a clean sheet. We know we can score goals, we’ve shown that we can score goals, the attacking side of our game hasn’t really been a problem so far this season.
Obviously, we’ve shown that today with 4-0, so it’s a great three points. Hopefully, we can take this into Thursday against Spurs, and hopefully get the three points again.
Tielemans? You all know the qualities that Youri has. He can open up any defence line with one pass. For him to come away with two goals is great, so it’s all positive and it’s great to have him back.
Daka and Vardy are very similar players, they both show great aggression in the press and they’re both fast players, so they’ve got similarities between them and they can both do the job there. They’re both quality players, so either one that plays, it’s always good and we know that they can score goals”.
