Liverpool are reportedly in talks with Keita about extending his contract beyond the summer of 2023, when it is presently set to expire, according to Calciomercato.

The BBC claimed at the time that Liverpool had bought Keita from RB Leipzig for a then-club-record 48 million euros.

During his time in the Bundesliga, Keita was one of Europe's most dynamic and entertaining midfielders, but he has failed to maintain that level of play at Anfield.

Still, with such a large investment in him, Liverpool are unlikely to give up too soon, especially as he is just 26 years old.

The Guinean is apparently negotiating on a new deal with the Reds.

Jurgen Klopp has already lost one of his best central midfielders this summer, with Gini Wijnaldum leaving to join Paris Saint-Germain.
