Solskjaer was fired after United's 4-1 loss to Watford on Saturday, a result that dropped United to eighth in the Premier League and extended the club's losing streak to seven games in all competitions.

Following the 'emotional' sacking of club 'great' Solskjaer, Maguire – who was issued a red card during the loss to Watford – argues that recent results 'have not been good enough' and has called on the squad to carry the burden.

“The result on Saturday wasn’t good enough. The results recently have not been good enough and unfortunately Ole has paid the price for that. We have to take a big responsibility as well,” Maguire said at a pre-match press conference.

“The players need to take responsibility for everything on the field. We were in this together. The manager has paid the price and we are all so disappointed for that.

“We haven’t been good enough, we know that, we have spoken about that and now we must look forward.

“The manager spoke to us. It was an emotional day. Everyone has a huge amount of respect for what he has done for the club. He remains a legend. He said he will be supporting us and wanting us to win every game of football which obviously shows the values of the man.”
