The team selection of Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has some veteran players perplexed.

According to the Manchester Evening News, some United players were surprised by Jesse Lingard's lack of playing time and the decision to choose an unchanged lineup for the 5-0 thrashing by Liverpool.

With the participation of Daniel James in two of their first three games this season, doubts about Solskjaer's selections began to appear. On August 29, James played in a 1-0 win over Wolves, two days before being moved to Leeds United for £25 million. Since New Year's Day in 2020, Lingard has not started in the Premier League for United.

Donny van de Beek's training efforts have also impressed teammates, according to dressing room sources, but the Dutchman has not started in the league since May and has only made one substitute appearance this season.
