According to a report from Gazzetta Dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur’s bid for Lautaro Martinez during the summer transfer window was higher than the offer made by Arsenal.

Tottenham allegedly made a move for Lautaro Martinez during the transfer window but ultimately failed to prise the Argentine international away from Inter.

Alasdair Gold revealed last month that Spurs had initially agreed on a €60m (£50.9m) fee for Martinez but the deal fell through following Romelu Lukaku’s move to Chelsea, with Inter no longer needing the funds from the Argentine’s sale.

Fabrizio Romano claimed last week that the Lilywhites were even ready to pay €90m (£77m) including add-ons for the 24-year-old but the striker was keen on playing Champions League football.

Gazzetta have now shed more light on Martinez’s situation, revealing the striker was subject to offers from Arsenal, Spurs and Atletico Madrid.

The publication backed up Romano’s claim that Tottenham and Atletico were both ready to pay €90m (£77m) for Martinez, which was higher than what the Gunners were ready to offer. However, it explained that Inter turned down all offers as they were determined to hold on to the forward after losing Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi.
