The reigning European champion last May, Chelsea hit hard this summer by recruiting Romelu Lukaku for € 115m and Saul in the form of a loan with option to buy. Jules Koundé could have come too. Negotiations took place between the Blues and Sevilla FC but the Spanish club refused the advances of their English counterpart.

They are willing to let go of the former Bordelais, but only for the amount of the release clause, € 80 million. In an interview with Sky Sports, the German coach of Chelsea returned to this failure.
