In a press conference on Thursday, Mexican international and Sporting Kansas City striker Alan Pulido had a strong message for all those that have doubted whether he is worthy of a spot in Mexico's National Team:

"I don't look at it as me being a replacement for somebody, each player brings a different set of skills with him, I just try to live each moment the best I can, now I've been called up to the National Team thanks to the good run of form I've had lately, it is not by chance that I received the call, it is a culmination of the good performances I've had this year and last"

Pulido was called after it was confirmed that Wolverhampton striker Raul Jimenez would not be available after his cranium operation in November; Javier Hernandez was also left of the list, despite having a good start of the season with MLS side L.A. Galaxy, "I'll try to take advantage of this opportunity in front of me, together with my teammates; I know them all well because we played together in youth National Teams, I'm confident we can do a good job match after match and finally win this tournament (the Nations League)" added Pulido, who also expressed his desire to play with Mexico in the Olympic Games in Tokyo, after he missed out on taking part in London 2012, a year in which Mexico won the gold medal.
