NATIONS - Klopp on World Cup every two years: "its all about the money"
Jürgen Klopp appears to understand why FIFA is so adamant about gaining support for World Cups every two years, and he isn't happy with the obvious financial incentives.
“In the end,” the Liverpool manager said Friday, “it’s all about money, that’s how it is.”
Klopp stated that with other sports, they don't have such a demanding calendar like what is being proposed by FIFA right now and that the argument is being made in terms of giving other countries the opportunity.
In the end, Klopp views such political reasons as a ruse to get more money for FIFA.
“That’s fine,” he said. "We do it not because of money but because we love it. That’s why we started it but of course we get lots of money as well.
“But in the end at one point, somebody has to start understanding that without the players — the most important ingredients of this wonderful game — we cannot play it, that’s how it is ... nobody is more important than the players."
