The Real Salt Lake winger Justin Meram announced his retirement from international soccer with Iraq on Instagram.

The 32-year-old scored four goals in 35 appearances for Iraq. Meram made his Iraqi debut as a substitute against Iran in 2015, and he played in two cycles of the 2015 Asian Cup and World Cup qualifiers. Ironically, his last cap came in a 3-0 loss to Iran in September.

Meram is an 11-year MLS veteran who has spent the majority of his career with the Columbus Crew, with spells at Atlanta United and Orlando City SC thrown in for good measure. He's in his second season with RSL and has two goals and two assists in 14 starts in 26 appearances.

Meram has 48 goals and 41 assists in 290 regular-season appearances in Major League Soccer (200 starts).
