The Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) made official the dismissal of Óscar Washington Tabárez as coach of the Celeste absolute after the two consecutive defeats in the last double date of the South American Qualifiers for the Qatar 2022 World Cup against Argentina and Bolivia.

The Maestro thus ends his second stage as coach of Uruguay with which he managed to become champion of America in 2011 and reach the semifinals of the 2010 South Africa World Cup, these two being the most important achievements of his 15-year process where he also managed to reach the Eighth finals in Brazil 2014 and the Quarterfinals in Russia 2018 after eliminating Portugal who arrived as European champions.

The Uruguayan team is currently out of the Qatar World Cup 2022 and has linked 5 games without winning, losing their last four games leaving negative feelings at the level of play.

Despite all his achievements, Óscar Washington Tabárez was generating many doubts due to the malfunction of the team and the fact that he had not managed to empower the talents that came from the new litter. The proposal was not the most effective for a squad that had the pieces to deploy a more offensive football.
