According to a story in Diario AS, Miralem Pjanic has been in the center of controversy in Bosnia and Herzegovina in recent days.

The former Barcelona midfielder, who is presently on loan at Besiktas, was allegedly seen drinking and smoking hookah the night before Bosnia's crucial World Cup qualifying match against Finland. They were defeated 3-1, and the playmaker had a dismal 70-minute showing.

Pjanic was penalized for his behavior and dismissed from the national squad, according to several Bosnian newspapers, and thus missed yesterday's 2-0 loss to Ukraine. Coach Ivajlo Petev, according to sources close to the player, permitted him to leave the camp because Bosnia could no longer qualify. The photographs, they believe, are several years old.

As a result, Pjanic could return to Turkey and continue his loan with Besiktas. He's off to a good start, with four assists in eight games.
