Quincy Promes hopes that he can make his return to the Dutch national team soon. The Spartak Moscow attacker has recovered from a calf injury and has his sights set on the next international match. Yet he knows that he will not just end up on the list of national coach Louis van Gaal.

"It is always difficult to come back to the Orange squad," says Promes in an interview on the Spartak website. "The coach has a large group of players. I have already played fifty international matches for the national team in the past seven years. I will be ready when I am fully fit again and I am called up. It is like a reward. Mr Van Gaal knows my potential, but now I'm focusing on Spartak first."

Guus Til could have been one of Promes' teammates at Spartak, but he plays on a rental basis at Feyenoord. However, Promes does not follow his compatriot. "I am not interested in Feyenoord because I belong to Ajax. If Guus is going to play against my people from Amsterdam, I will see him at work. I am happy for him, but unfortunately he could not score much for Spartak. Maybe he could didn't acclimate or couldn't use his qualities properly."

Spartak has not exactly started the new season in the Premjer-Liga. Only seven points were collected in the first six games. "Our goal is to become champions. I'm used to competing for the top places. But where are we now? I really can't accept that. So I'm not resigned to that. I'm motivated to get Spartak back to the top help. That has to be in our blood."
