The German U21 national team has a new head coach. As announced by the DFB, Toni Di Salvo succeeds Stefan Kuntz, who recently took over the Turkish national team. The 42-year-old is signing a contract dated until 2023.

Di Salvo has been with the DFB since 2013. Initially, he was in charge of the U19 team as an assistant coach, and since 2016 he has been assisting Kuntz with the U21 team. With his promotion, the ex-professional is taking on a team as head coach for the first time.

Hermann Gerland is assigned to him as an assistant trainer. The 67-year-old is one of the veterans of FC Bayern. After many years of membership in the club, he left the record champions in the summer.
