PREMIER - Chelsea, Lukaku's delay explained

As Chelsea supporters await confirmation of Romelu Lukaku’s arrival from Inter Milan, Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol explains why there’s no need to worry.

“This is such a big deal. It is a record deal for Chelsea and it was always going to take a bit of time. You also have to factor what is happening at Inter Milan into it. 

It was controversial for Inter to agree to sell him because he’s done so well there. That all had to be dealt with and Inter needed to sign a replacement. They are signing Edin Dzeko and they will be signing another striker as well.

“Lukaku also had to fly to Monte Carlo from Milan for meetings with his representatives because he was signing a new contract with his agent for another two years.

"That all had to be dealt with too, and also, in the background, Chelsea had the European Super Cup game in Belfast last night.

“I know some Chelsea fans will be asking why it’s taking so long, but I would say to them that this is almost a £100m deal. He is going to be a Chelsea player, you just need to be patient.”
