PREMIER - Everton interested in Rafael Benitez
After Carlo Ancelott’s return to Santiago Bernabéu, Everton’s bench is still empty, and Farhad Moshiri, the British-Iranian owner of the The Toffees, is looking for a new coach. The main targets were David Moyes and Nuno Espirito Santo, but Everton could not persuade either of them to take the job. Now Mirror Football reports that Moshiri has started the initial negotiations with Rafael Benitez, the former Liverpool boss, to replace Carlo Ancelotti.
The 61-year-old Spanish coach has managed 10 years in the Premier League before, and knows its atmosphere by heart; however, the main obstacle on his way to St James’ Park is the conflicts he had with Everton fans when he was coaching Liverpool; he even taunted them once by calling Everton "a small club". We must wait to see if Evertonians will forgive their previous arch-rival.
