After Ismaila Sarr's equalizer earned Watford a 1-1 draw on Saturday, Newcastle was still looking for its first Premier League win of the season.

Sean Longstaff's curling 20-meter goal gave the Magpies a 23rd-minute lead at Vicarage Road, where they had only two points going into the game.

Watford tied the game in the 72nd minute when Sarr found himself unmarked and nodded home at the far post.

When Joshua King tucked the ball past goalkeeper Karl Darlow three minutes into time, the Hornets thought they had a winner, but VAR ruled the goal out for offside.

"Pretty painful, huge frustration," Newcastle manager Steve Bruce said. "We've played well again."

The game ended with the referee Jarred Gillett awarding seven yellow cards — four for Watford, three for Newcastle.
