According to a recent report from Football Insider, the Hammers have chosen Liverpool's Nat Phillips as the ideal alternative for the imposing centre-back.

Phillips, 24, was a vital player for Jurgen Klopp last season, when the Reds were dealing with their own defensive injury problems.

Phillips' name has fallen way down in his manager's pecking order now that star Virgil Van Dijk has returned, which could encourage one of the team's domestic rivals to express interest.

If any club wants to entice Phillips away from Anfield, a £12 million deal is believed to suffice.

With Ogbonna expected to miss a significant portion of the season, David Moyes will be looking for a new defender to step in and fill the vacuum left by his regular centre-back.
